El Silencio's resident horses enjoy a playful stroll through the property's gardens. |
We thank our friend and premium travel advisor, Kathy Chou from First in Service Travel for sharing her experience at El Silencio Lodge & Spa. It was a pleasure to host her and her daughter in an unforgettable mother-daughter ecoadventure in Costa Rica!
"Where do I begin? I was at awed upon arriving in our beautifully appointed suite, and this sense of awe never left me until the day we checked out. I enjoyed many blissful mornings on the deck, while watching the sifting clouds above and around the emerald mountains in front; silence was never so delicious. The beautiful wandering horses delighted our idle moments, and especially after we rode them to visit the charming Los Bajos village, the pasture with magnificent views, and crossing streams. I loved the hummingbird garden, and how meditative and mesmerizing to be in it. We enjoyed the massages at the spa and I was very impressed with the skills and attentiveness of your spa staff.
The ambiance was one of serenity yet not pretentious, as it was intended by its natural surroundings. I loved all the trails on the property, and felt sad I didn’t make it to the waterfall. We did the Oxcart painting with Ronald, who created a pampering and serene (complete with mood music) painting experience for us. I also owe thanks to William, the Eco-Concierge who rescued a bird with us and arranged a complimentary zipline/water rafting tour for me for the Pozo Azul; my daughter is still wearing that wrist band with pride.
And we had the best meals at your dining room. Your dining staff was attentive, professional and charismatic, the last quality may not be a common attribute, but it made the whole dining experience “home-like”.
The driver Jimmy was such a hidden asset that deserves special recognition. He was caring and attentive while informative on our drive in from the airport, he drove us through Sarchi so we could see the area, pointed out and explained the “continental divide” when we drove through a heavily foggy area. On our way back to the airport, he took a different scenic route that included the Rosario, Naranjo area, Zarcero town with the Palmito Cheese shops, and told us about the “Holy Trinity” of any typical Costa Rican community-church, bar and soccer field. We have learned so much driving around with him, I felt that our airport transfers were upgraded to two sight-seeing tours!
And of course, none of these wonderful experiences was possible without Andrey’s “hands-on” managing style, he truly runs a very tight ship, yet discreet and honest. I am now an admirer for his managing philosophy and what he was able to accomplish."
